Tagata was born in the South Pacific islands of American Samoa but raised in the San Francisco bay area. Tagata grew up singing in the children's choir and took piano lessons in grade school. Over the years he became more serious about singing and playing music as he committed his life to Jesus Christ by the age of 18. Without any formal musical training, Tagata learned a few instruments along the way but his main instrument is his voice. Tagata has been a music director for a few churches over the years and is currently Spark Church's Worship Arts Director in Mt View CA. He also serves and supports with his family at his home church New North Church in San Bruno CA and is one of their worship leaders and vocal director.
Today Tagata continues to create, play and sing music where ever he's invited. He has recorded 3 CD projects over the years, No Ordinary Man in 2001 followed by Ia Vi'ia Oe in his native language of Samoa in 2007 and Tree Of Mercy in 2016. In addition to leading worship, Tagata also produces, arranges, consults, voice coach, directs and writes music.

Tagata is married to his beautiful and lovely wife Sharon Ameperosa and together they have 3 boys Ishmael, Anthony & Tau. They reside in his beloved hometown of South San Francisco CA. His music inspirations are Walter Hawkins, Andre Crouch, Israel Houghton, Kirk Franklin, Earth Wind & Fire, Tower Of Power, P-Funk and many others.
